In the early twenty-first century, not only do we live in the most stressful and fast paced time in history, but we also live in a time when more people experience depression than ever before.

 

When a loved one dies, or becomes seriously ill, we often feel helpless and hopeless. Maybe our own personal lives have become so distressing and hopeless that we believe that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. These are common expressions of people who are experiencing depression. The objective we have set is to reduce or eliminate: (1) the volume of your tinnitus; and (2) the emotional distress of listening to your tinnitus. This process of emotional and auditory "habituation" normally takes several months, so please be optimistic and allow yourself to be patient.

 

You will, in all likelihood, reach at least one of the two objectives as you pursue the treatments. It is expected that you will meet your long-term objectives, and many people begin noticing positive results emotionally in a few weeks or less. Significant tinnitus reduction may take several weeks, months, or even years. As you pursue these and other therapies discussed, we suggest you contact the tinnitus association in the country you live in, or write to the association in the country nearest you. There are some tinnitus associations that I have not listed because of their lack of track record.
